“My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience.” James 1:2-3 (NKJV)

This month we continued to deal with mice. Last fall, Brian decided to install shelves in the basement to store extra food. We had a 15 lb bag of oatmeal sitting on the top shelf. We realized that mice were enjoying the food buffet in our laundry room. We removed all the food from our basement and have caught another 10 mice. As we prepared for our September Boundary Waters trip, we discovered the mice were nesting in our storage closest. They made a mess of things and damaged some gear. We struggled to count it all joy when mice moved into our home.

Even in the midst of trials, it is always amazing to see God’s blessings big and small. This month Brian filled the pulpit in Tipton, IA. While there we spent time riding around town in an antique electric car. We were also blessed with several bags of apples to bake with. We celebrated 19 years of marriage with an apple pie, and also made applesauce and apple bread. Brenda and the kids had the blessing of spending a day at the Iowa State Fair. Our neighbor Preston came along and he was able to experience the State Fair for the first time. It was fun to watch. Brian went to Men’s Retreat at Iowa Regular Baptist Camp. From the time lapse camera pictures, he was able to put together a video of the cabin being built. It was a blessing for him to reconnect with men from across the state of Iowa. Another blessing was the annual International GiveAway at Faith Baptist Church in Iowa City. Last year we were not able to help due to the funeral of Brian’s brother-in-law, so it was an extra blessing to help this year. Amanda helped by watching some of the younger children so their parents could work and Luke was able to help with the furniture setup and delivery. One final blessing of the month was starting homeschool. It is always fun to bring out the new books and watch the kids eager anticipation of the new things they are going to learn this year.

Fulfilling the great commission together,

Brian, Brenda, Amanda, Luke, Nathanael and Rebekah Krueger
