”He will swallow up death forever, And the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces; The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the Lord has spoken.” Isaiah 25:8 (NKJV)

On August 7th, Brian’s brother-in-law Jason passed away after a long battle with lung cancer. When we told Re- bekah she said, “Mom, it is happy and sad.” Then she said, “It is happy because he is in Heaven, but it is sad that he died.” We were happy that he was no longer suffering, but we were sad that he was no longer with us. We eagerly anticipate the day when God will swallow up death forever and wipe away all of our tears.

The first week of August we spent vacationing in the Boundary Waters with some friends from our church. The weather was great and the fishing was even better. We caught many smallmouth bass and our friends even taught us how to catch crawfish. In the middle of the week, we were surprised by an unexpected “DNR” visit from the pastor and a layman from a church we just revisited. The day we left Boundary Waters we found out Jason had passed away. We decided to drive to Virginia as a family. We were amazed at how God orchestrated everything. We did not even have to cancel any of our deputation meetings! We presented at Calvary Baptist Church in Cambridge, MN that Sunday then we started our long journey to Virginia for a Wednesday visitation and Thursday funeral. We traveled back to Iowa on Friday and Saturday and presented our ministry at Berean Baptist Church in Boone, IA. Boone was on our way to Brian’s parent’s house for the Iowa funeral where Jason would be buried. At the end of the month, we shared our ministry at Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles, IA. We want to thank all of you for praying for us as we traveled MANY miles during the month. There were specific times on the road that we could tell that people were praying and that God was answering!

Fulfilling the great commission together,
