“I returned and saw under the sun that — The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.” Ecclesiastes 9:11 (NKJV)
Every year our kids look forward to building race cars. One of our kids has won top speed for a few years in a row and one particular car design has done extremely well. This year Brian told the kids they couldn’t use that design, but we highly encouraged our neighbor to use it because we really wanted him to do well. As we were installing the wheels, Brian made a small mistake on Luke’s car. Wouldn’t you know? Luke’s car was the fastest this year! This verse reminds us that even when we do our best, the results may or may not be what we desire. In the end, we need to trust in God and walk by faith.
Brian and Luke went to Father-Son Retreat at IRBC in Clear Lake, IA. While they were there Brian checked the time-lapse camera system and we are praising God that it is working. They also enjoyed fishing, riding the zip line, and learning new tips and tricks for surviving in the wilderness. But the most rewarding thing was hanging out with other fathers and sons.
Amanda officially joined the youth group. (How did that happen?) Her first official youth event was the annual Youth Rally at Adventureland in Des Moines, IA. She had a great time and is really enjoying the promotion. While Amanda was at Adventureland Brian took the other kids turkey hunting. It was a successful morning of watching wildlife and harvesting a turkey.
We presented our ministry at First Baptist Church in Norwalk, IA as well as Calvary Baptist Church in Rochester, MN. The kids had an opportunity to spend time on a farm and help bottle feed animals. We are also grateful for the time spent with family and friends as we celebrated Brenda’s birthday this month. Fulfilling the great commission together, Brian, Brenda, Amanda, Luke, Nathanael and Rebekah Krueger
